5 Used Wrapping Paper Crafts That You Can Make

Oh, the holidays, amiright? Once they’re over, we’re left with memories and a pile of used wrapping paper. What to do? It seems a waste to toss/recycle (and we hope you recycle your paper!), so you might wonder what crafts you can do with used wrapping paper.

Here is a quick list of used wrapping paper crafts:

  • Wall Art: Have a blank wall that needs some TLC? Cut the used wrapping paper into various shapes and sizes, then glue them onto a canvas or poster board to create a unique and colorful collage.
  • Gift Bags: Cut the wrapping paper into large rectangles and use double-sided tape to create a bag shape. Add handles made from ribbon or twine for a finishing touch.
  • Wrapping Paper Storage: Cut your used wrapping paper into squares and glue them onto a cardboard box to create a unique storage container.
  • Decorative Garland: Mount the wrapping paper onto light cardboard (like a cereal box) and then cut into various shapes and sizes and string them together with ribbon or twine to create a festive garland.
  • Scrapbook Embellishments: Cut the wrapping paper into smaller pieces and use it to embellish a scrapbook page or handmade card.

Bonus idea: Reuse the least-crumpled paper for next year!

Pro tip: During the gift-opening session, put out a big bin for all the wrappings. Later, you can pull what you want to keep and what must go into the recycle bin.

And speaking of recycling, be sure not to recycle any paper that has glitter or flocking — those can’t go into the recycle bin.

These ideas can be used all year long, not just with your used holiday wrapping paper. Do you have other ideas for used wrapping paper crafts? Let us know in the comments!
